It was another long day at work moving heavy building materials across a dusty cluttered lot. I was a construction worker who worked on projects around the city so as you would imagine I was pretty spent by the time I got home. It had started raining just moments before I was off for work so I was a bit damp, but my exhaustion got the better of me and almost as soon as I walked through my door I fell back into my recliner still in my damp and dirty tank top and jeans.
The recliner was as far back as it could go and some show on the television mumbled in the otherwise quiet room. I didn't know what it was nor did I really care. Majority of the time I only had the TV on to spare the house of what would otherwise be dead silence.
I sat there staring at the blank ceiling, with only the surrounding walls to keep me company. Sometimes I wondered why I ever needed so much room for just me, at times it seemed like the empty rooms void of anyone mocked my loneliness.
Both of my parents were quite financially wealthy; my dad being surgeon and my mother being a psychotherapist. Luckily enough they were generous and help pay for much of my own house. The house was decently sized and old styled. The outside was fake wood to protect the inside from the elements but the inside was all real. It was cozy but also spacious, but I often found myself wishing it wasn't so big, maybe then it wouldn't seem so empty.
The only real family I've ever had was my parents and they were always busy, everyone was else was either dead or moved away. And since I was horribly shy and terrible with girls in high school I never got married. Hell, I hardly ever had a relationship that could really count.
Now I'm not an Adonis or anything, but I'm also not ugly or unattractive. I was pretty standard when it came to build, about 5"10 and 175 pounds. Fortunately my current job had plenty of physical labor which gave my otherwise lean frame some muscles. According to the few girls I actually dated my best feature was my apparently warm smile in addition to my deep blue eyes. Ever since high school I kept my brunette hair semi short, about ear length.
